I have a sort of unwritten policy about not turning this blog into a sharing/reposting of cool things I have found on the web, although I confess a bit of an addiction to the blogs of some of my friends who do. Nothing wrong with sharing. It simply was not my purpose for this blog.
However...
When two of your favorite activities on earth have somehow managed to meet and produce something this cool, how can you resist pointing a bloggy finger and yelling "LOOK!" to anyone who will listen?
Su Blackwell is a British artist who works primarily in paper. Many of you may have seen her book series, in which she cuts and glues the pages of books to create little dioramas. Please do click on her name to see some of these exquisite sculptures.
But one day, the artistic director of the Rose Theatre in Kingston, London, was looking for a new designer, came across some of Blackwell's images online, and sent her an email. The result was this amazing set for the Rose Theatre's production of The Snow Queen, which ran from December 2, 2011 through January 8 of this year. To say I am completely enchanted is an understatement. Take a look at more production photos here. And...wow.
