Long Stitch Binding

This morning I finished sewing the book from Saturday's Long Stitch Binding class taught by Mitzi Lindgren. Of course I can never leave well enough alone, so my long stitches are bundled together into little sheaves of wheat on the spine. The soft cover, made from two pieces of book cloth laminated to each other, is the most gorgeous red. The book feels good when I hold it in my hand.

The book could be considered finished at this point, but I have Plans. The plans involve a small piece of fabric I purchased a few years ago, tucked away in a safe spot, and promptly forgot all about. This fabric surfaced last week, and two days later I saw this red book cover and knew exactly what I must do.

Funny how things work out that way.
